On Sunday, May 10, 2026, COMENA Secretary General Mr. Tahar ZIDI, representing the Atomic Energy Commissioner, officially opened a national workshop on the roles and responsibilities of the Nuclear Energy Program Implementation Organization (NEPIO) and the IAEA’s phased approach: lessons learned from Member States, held in Algiers from May 10 to 14, 2026.
In addition to discussing NEPIO’s roles and responsibilities, the workshop also focused on the IAEA’s phased approach to implementing a nuclear program, with presentations on energy planning, pre-feasibility studies, human resource requirements, and reactor technology.
